FAQ

Thank you for taking the time to look at our FAQ section.  I have tried to form this website around being informative & professional but wanting to keep it friendly feeling too.  I feel that a question asked multiple times is worth sharing.  I’ve taken the time to mark the Q in pink so you can possible shortcut the question that you might be looking for.

Q: What services do you provide?

Mobile services for vehicles.

In-shop for additional keys & other services.

Q: Do you program keys, remotes, & fobs?

A:  Yes!  Please contact us to see what we can do for you!

–Sub Q: What about stuff sourced from the internet or dealership?

–Sub A: No.  We do not provide support for someone else’s hardware.  Please consider what we have for sale as it is priced competitively & includes a 1-year warranty to be free from defects.

Q: I consider my vehicle older, why is the price so high?

A: We charge on the labor requirements of each vehicle.  While it might older, nothing has changed in the process on making it’s keys.  Most older vehicles actually need more attention because of their age making it take longer on average.

Q: Can I make a key by the VIN number?

A: No – This is not a process we utilize due to costs.  We utilize processes where we make keys directly from the vehicle.  Different vehicles have different security measures, requirements, & processes that have different costs attached with them.

Q: What do I need to provide for you to get started working on my vehicle?

A: Proof of ownership via DL/ID & title/registration/current proof of insurance.

–Sub Q: I only have a title and signed it on the back…  Will this work?

–Sub A: No.  We require legal documents to match.  Exceptions are made under active dealership licenses & deaths but additional verification is performed in these scenarios.

Q: What is a “rekey”?

A: A rekey is when we take your existing lock (doorknob, deadbolt, car lock, ignition, etc.) and we make the necessary changes to it so that the existing key no longer works. We cut a new key and make it work the lock for the new key configuration.

Q: What are the benefits of having your house rekeyed?

A: When you have a house built, many contractors come in to do miscellaneous jobs. Plumbers, electricians, flooring, cabinetry, painters, etc. all go in and out of a house probably using keys. When a house is sold or turned over the owners, the same key is generally distributed to the new home owner. When purchasing a used home, how are you to be sure that all the keys and garage door openers were given to you? By having your house rekeyed you are reassured that your home protection level has been increased by making sure who has keys! If you’ve lost your keys or had them stolen, it’s also a way to make the key you lost unusable in your home. Rekeying is much cheaper than replacing all of your current hardware!

Q: Will you rekey my car?

A: We do not support rekeying cars.  We specialize in lost key replacement.  Also note that in newer cars, programmed keys and remotes can be deleted out of the memory.  This can keep out unwanted people just as well.

Q: Do you make motorcycle/scooter keys?

A: Yes! Please see our services under Motorcycle Keys

Q: Why is it so expensive for a scooter key when scooters are so cheap?

A: Most scooters have the same exact key as a motorcycle.  Even in the cheapest competitor models, they utilize the same level of security.

Q: Do you make keys that are antique looking like skeleton keys?

A: No. Those keys haven’t been made for over a hundred years! Some antique furniture companies continued to use them until the 1950s but not many. You can try finding a skeleton key set at some hardware stores that might grant you access, or search the internet on a site like Craigslist for keys that might fit! Or you can even have a hand at crafting your own, there are plenty of videos on Youtube showing how! But we do not work with them.

Q: Do you work on safes?

A:  YES & NO – If it has keys, Yes!  Bring it on by!  If it uses a combo, no.  I will NOT do on-site services for these.

Q: I need keys to “my” car.  Can I just give you the address, vehicle info, and pay with a CC over the phone?

A: No.  I require verification of ownership via DL/ID & title/registration/current proof of insurance.  This is done on-site only.

Q: Why won’t you accept my signed napkin as proof of ownership on my vehicle?

A: We only accept legal forms of verification.  We also only accept legal forms of payment.

A:  No.  They will end up locked in your car with your keys & you’ll still need service.

A: Yes, I can email or text it to you.  I might have the ability to do a thermal receipt but not regularly.

Q: Why doesn’t my receipt have my year/make/model or my Vin# & Plate#?

A: For privacy & liability reasons, we have decided this is the best for all.

Q: Can I speak with your boss or the owner?
